About Us: We are a small family farm that created our name 'Fox Creek Farm' and came to be locally known by that name in 1995. The name came about when a Red Fox vixen and kits were noticed playing on our hillside above the creek. We came to cherish and respect the vixen and her young ones even when she would occassionally stalk the pasture outskirts in the late of day to capture a straying hen. She only took occassionally to feed her young and that was an acceptable loss on our farm.
Here at the farm we practice natural, sustainable and organic farming techniques. We try to provide and sustain our family with what we grow and maintain here at the farm.
Our 3 generations of farm collies that we bred in the mid to late 90's, under our name, became known nationwide as the 'Fox Creek Farm Collies' . These collies have been extremely helpful to us in our daily lives on the farm!
Fox Creek Farm supports the efforts of area farmers to supply naturaly produced food products to the local community. Our goal has always been to produce all of our own food products in as natural and sustainable way possible.
The poultry and animals at Fox Creek Farm are not 'caged'; they spend some time during inclement weather in the barn in large aviaries or pens, then, when weather permits are allowed to graze and forage as much as possible. Though we are a small farm of 5 acres we try to grow as much of their feed as possible. During the months when they cannot graze outside on grasses we provide them with cellar grown sprouts; grasses; legumes; earthworms (for poultry); extra eggs and goat milk; hay; alfalfa and corn. The pigs are also fed scraps of leftovers from the meals we have eaten.
Our animals are treated very humanely and are loved and respected by all at 'Fox Creek Farm'.
All of the above is done without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We use composted manures; crop rotation; companion planting; rotation of grazing pastures and crops and natural pest enemies to achieve this end.
